Bankruptcy Law Guide Introduction Bankruptcy law is designed
to protect those who owe money, and those to whom it is owed. Therefore, whether you are
the debtor, or the creditor, you need to have a basic understanding of the
rules and procedures which control the bankruptcy process. The main statute for
bankruptcy law is the United
States Bankruptcy Code. The Code itself is organized into chapters, the
most well known are Chapter
7, Chapter 11
and Chapter 13,
which are the different types of bankruptcy proceedings.
